Is it acceptable not to use your first name at work ?

During the job application or even after getting the job you still go with your Middle and last names only. Would the employer consider you a liar ?

Is it acceptable not to use your first name at work ?
when you apply for the job, if you put your legal info the apllication, and you just use your middle and last name during the job, that should be find, i use my last name anywhere
Reply:Whenever I did the job ap, I put FirstName MiddleName and then my "Johnny" in quote marks. At the face-to-face interview I would gently correct the interviewer and tell them I go by "Johnny". From there on out it was my "Johnny".

Paychecks however would always be FirstName LastName and I had to endorse with two signatures. Which peeves me. If I want to sign with an "X" and write my driver's license, then that's legal.
Reply:Contract of some kind: yes. As the name you go by: no.
Reply:Just be upfront about what you preferred to be called... people will understand.
Reply:yes
Reply:no, your employee would feel you like your middle name better. SHould put real first name on app, though
Reply:List your first, middle and last name for legal reasons. Also include a notation if a spot is not already on the application for your preferred name. Many people have first names that are either too long or they just don't like and use a nickname or preferred named. ie: first name Robert, preferred name Bob and so on.
Reply:Not if you are upfront with the employer, explaining your preference.
