It may have Spanish and/or "Middle English" roots.
Anyone out there know the meaning of the exceptionally rare female first name "Contrelia?
I searched every where but couldn't find anything relating to it, sorry
Reply:Genealogy is about researching dead ancestors. What causes you to think that names have meanings or that that has anything to do with documenting history?
Reply:Sometimes the names are made up, OR they combine two names, OR it is the name of a city somewhere.

I have settled on the middle name Pedroia, and I need a list of boy first names that sound good with it. Please give me any/all suggestions!
Thanks

And I know you specified a "boy" name, but to my western U.S.-born, European descent ears, I must confess that Pedroia sounds to me like a female name. But so do Carol and Claire, and I know men with those names too, so what do I know?

Question about using the hiring manager's first name in a thank you letter?
I interviewed with a company today and the interview went so well that they almost instantly decided to ask me back for a 2nd interview on Tuesday.
I'm working on a thank you letter to the hiring manager and I'm planning to address the manager by her first name (in the letter).
My reasoning for using her first name is that they are on a first name basis in the office.
What do you think? Should I be using her first name in the letter or her last name?
Question about using the hiring manager's first name in a thank you letter?
I don't think that is proper. Perhaps it is fine if you are in conversation with him, but if you want to properly thank him, I'd use his last name.
Best to error on side of caution.
Reply:Maybe consider setting it up in a memorandum format in which the 'To' section has her full name and work address. Then open it with Dear 'First Name'... Next paragragh, I would like to take the opportunity to extend my appreciation... etc.
Reply:Last name only like Ms. Henley or Mrs. Henley. They may use first names after you are part of the team but right nor be professional.
Reply:I guess that would depend on how she introduced herself to you at the beginning of the interview. If she said, "Hi, I'm Mrs. Jones" then that is how you should address the letter. However, if she said "Hi, my name is Susan" then by all means use her first name.
Reply:Hi - the best protocol for this is to keep it respectful. If you are typing a letter, address it to Dear Mr. Doe but then strike that out with your pen and handwrite "John".

Would changing my first name affect major parts of my life?
I want to change my first name from Corie to Corianne. It's more feminine and professional. But my parents think if I change my name it will affect my credit, college transcripts, etc. They said it would be hard in the future to get a job or a loan because changing your first name makes you look suspicious. Is this true? I really want to go through with it but not if it's going to be a huge hassle.

LOL I changed my whole name once, completely different. I even eliminated my middle name entirely. All it takes (here in my county) is $75.00 and an appearance in a small claims court. You answer a few questions, such as why you are changing your name, if you are doing so to evade creditors (which the answer has to be 'no'), etc. After the judge grants you the change, you have to send in for a change on your birth certificate, social security card, and whatever else. It is really easy, and for such a small change as your's, it will be even easier. Very few applications ask whether you have ever gone by another name. I work in healthcare so I had to disclose my other name once, but that was it. You know what? I changed my name back, a year later. I just decided to go back to my original name, and it was even easier than the first change. Hopefully, it is the same in your area, but laws do sometimes differ.

Reply:is going by your middle name an option?
Reply:No it's not true as far as your credit or credibility.
As for you psyche, you may exerience a type of identity crisis that can be comparable to changing your last name when you get married. Try to remember that people will still call you by the name they'd called you for years.
I took a leap when I got married and not only changed my last name but I started using my full first name as well. I had many issues to weed out emotionally and also lost my mental identity of who I was. It took years to recoup my personality because of this change along with motherhood. I guess adding a little to your name shouldn't be too bad.
