Ugh, I hate my name. How old must I be to legally change it?
How old must you be to change your first name in Ontario?
To do it yourself, you need to be 18. Your parents can do it for you any time.
On the other hand, just start asking people to use a different name. My sister did that years ago, she didn't like the name Teresa, so started using Terry in Grade 5 or 6. To this day, (35 yrs later) the only people who use her proper name are her family.
How do you like your middle name? You could use that.
One bit of warning: do NOT use an assumed name on any kind of ID. That can get horribly confusing in later years and can cause all sorts of delays and complications. Once it is legally changed, fine, but if you just want to USE a different name, keep it off anything official.
Reply:You can call yourself anything you want without having to legally change it, unless it is done to defraud.

How can I find someone if I only know their first name?
I'm looking for someone I met at my hotel in Disney World. All I know is her first name is Deborah, that she's from Brazil, and I know the room she was staying in.
How can I find someone if I only know their first name?
Ring the hotel and say you've found this girls bag which is identical to yours and has a lugage lable that just says deborah, room number..., hotel... and there's i don't know some sort of Brazillian flag on it. Ask if they could give you a number for her so you can see if she has yours or an address you can send it to. If they still refuse buy a cheap bag. put some cheap/ old stuff in it and your contact details and a letter for her in it, give it to the hotel and ask them to contact deborah and give it to her. Tell them you found it an airport or somewhere so could they please contact her as she probably won't think of asking the hotel if they have it. Hopefully she'll want to contact you just as much and will be in touch. If not, at least you miss out on an akward conversation with her. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:you could call up the hotel and ask who was in there at what time you were there and give her first name to help them out. but im pretty sure theres a law against giving out that info. soooooo maybe you wanna try hacking computers? lol or OOOOOOOOOO you could call the hotel and say your the husband of deborah in room so and so when blah and you lost something. and then the person will look "you" up and be like deborah BLAH is that correct?? just try to get the name out of the secratary by any means possible and then be like oh nvm i dont really need it or something lol bye!
then with her last name you know what to do. goodluck. i hope this is love. not some kidnapping shinanigan.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Reply:Call the hotel and ask if they can give you the phone number and/or last name of your cousin/friend/relative/business client, Deborah, who stayed in room (w/e) on the night of (w/e).
If that doesn't work, try looking for her on Facebook or Myspace.
Reply:I think you may be out of luck. You can try convincing the hotel to give up their records (if they even have any--I'm sure they do though), but I don't think they'll let you arbitrarily pick a guest to dig up some dirt on and hand over the information.
Reply:Ask the staff at the Reception of the hotel.
As they maintain register with names and addresses, they may help you.
Reply:No shot. Hotels aren't allowed to give out personal information on their guests, so you can't even ask them.
Reply:Maybe the hotel would forward a message to her for you. That way they can keep their privacy agreement intact. Good luck.
Reply:wow....thats a great question. try going back to the hotel to get some info on this chick...they may not want to give you any info...but I'm sure a great bribe would work! lol
Reply:unless the hotel gives u her name (which is not allowed) you can't
Reply:if its a myspace question then thats simple
go to find friends and type in her name
and when u see the pic that looks like hers well...click on it
Reply:hmmmm...good question

Why is Hillary Clinton the only candidate referred to by first name only?
I think her campaign started that to differentiate her from her husband. When her election site first when up, the tag at the top of the page just said Hillary.
Personally, I always refer to her as Senator Clinton. Even tho she wouldn't get my vote, I feel she still deserves the respect of her position, just as President Bush, who I don't care much about either.
Why is Hillary Clinton the only candidate referred to by first name only?
Probably because her husband was a President and often the media talks about them at the same time frequently. Plus, when Bill was President, they didn't call her "the First Lady" all of the time, they called her Hillary. I think the media just got used to calling her Hillary and it stuck. I'm sure she doesn't mind, as being on a first name basis with the voters could be a big help.

EDIT Why single me out? I am f'ing tired of this s*it. I didn't expect it from you, Amy. I'm outta here.
Reply:I used to wonder the same thing about Saddam Hussien, who always seemed to be referred to in the news on friendly first name terms. I think in his case 'Saddam' had a ring in line with his image, and calling Clinton Hilary differentiates her from her husband.
Reply:Same way that Obama is used without the Barrack (or the Hussein) for the most part.. what's in a name? They're thinking they're manipulating you/me by reacting to a brand-name... firstly, one-word names usually mean FAME and instant-recognition to us (Cher, Britney, Bono, Celine, Barbra, Elvis, etc.) and that's what they set out to do.. in reality, she should be referred to as First Lady (but doesn't want that!) or Sen. Clinton, but wants the more folksy, less formal Hillary. In this way, she lessens the Clinton connection (and people are tired of Bush, Clinton, Bush Bush, Clinton?)... listen, political strategists believe that people are MORONs and would detach her from HIM.. and after her tearing-up act and how it played in New Hampshire.. they might be right!!!
Exclusion of details, changes the meaning. Highlighting what puts them in a better light... (What else do politicians do... because I can't find 1 thing either she or Obama ever did... for anyone.. and there they are.)
Reply:Why does SHE print her first name on ALL of her campaign literature, buttons, signs, etc....
I think it's HER that has brought it to the forefront to be more personable...it's a ploy....are you THAT naive???
Reply:Hillary is synonymous with terms like the plague, or disaster,
You don't need any other names words or structure to describe her.
Reply:Because that is what she started refering to herself as back in her senate campaign in order to differentiate herself from bill clinton.
Reply:If I remember correctly she is the one that started that. And it was more then likely to make it sound like it is a new start, and not for bill.
Reply:Actually, early on, Hillary made a point to run on her first name, as, to differentiate herself from the president.
Reply:Has a better ring to it and her husband wore the "Clinton" moniker out. John (Edwards or McCain) sounds like someone sneaking around with a hooker. Barack sounds too, well, Muslim. Romney is called Mit by most of people I've heard on TV. Fred Thompson is usually referred to by both of his names. Ron Paul is referred to as "that nut from Texas." They like calling Huckabee by his last name because it invokes images of a canine cartoon character.
Reply:HEIL HILLARY!
Reply:Because she's such a friendly likeable and approachable person silly!!
Reply:She's the only one with breasts that's why.
Reply:Because saying her last name makes people think of her husband. She wants to distance herself from him because he hurts her chances of winning the general election. Bill was not a good president and educated people know this. The left wing libs love Bill, but not the general public. Look at the numbers. In 1992 he only won with 43% and in 96 with only 49%.
Clinton = Bad memories.
Reply:Because libs are like little school children. You know how Clinton may be hard for some to pronounce so instead you can call her Mrs. Hillary.
I was reading your other questions and you are not asking any questions that you don't already have a pointed opinion about, every time you give an answer your reposne it is something like "that's exactly how I feel". Get over yourself, you aren't here trying to gain insight, you are trying to bash those that disagree with you.
Reply:Her choice. All of her campaign stuff is printed 'Hillery'. I suppose she thinks it is informal and friendly.

What first name would compliment the middle name Alice?
It's a running thing in my family that the first girl is either named Alice, or it's her middle name. I don't really like it as a first name, so I'm trying to find a name that would flow well with it. If you can give any ideas, it would be appreciated.

How do you find the last name of someone just by birthdate, first name & county they live in?
We are trying to run a back ground check on someone that we believe to be unsafe, how can we do that if we don't have the last name. Any help would be greatly appreciated to many details to list. Thanks!
How do you find the last name of someone just by birthdate, first name %26amp; county they live in?
go to 411.com
u can type in there first name, city, state OR last name, and you can get a list on people with that name name in the area
hope this helps :)
Reply:To run an actual back ground check on someone you would need the last name and a signed authorization.
If you are just trying to find out information on a person, you can find out if they own real estate and if so, you can find out their last name by the property address on the county's assessor's page. Most information is found on the internet, you just need to know where to look. Hope this helps.

How do I display just my first name on Facebook?
I want to have a Facebook account, but I was wondering if there was a way to display just my first name. I really, really don't want to have my full name on the Internet, because it seems like a stupid idea to put information like that out there where everyone can see it. I can keep all my other personal info private, but not my last name. Little help?
How do I display just my first name on Facebook?
The new system does not allow you to signup/change your name to an initial (ie. it cannot say Tim V., it must say the full first and last name).
The facebook terms state that you must have a full name. Unfortunately you cannot hide your last name, even with your privacy settings set to the max.
My suggestion is to use either a fake name, or your middle name (or something similar).
Reply:I don't think you can. The only thing you can do is put your first name and then your last name's first initial. For example: Tracy T.
Reply:You can't but you can put your first name and a initial. Or just do what I have may first name and my second name in english.

Can anyone think of a famous historical person by the first name of Gary?
I don't mean relatively minor current characters, like a few comedicans; I'm talking about a person of signifigance.
Can anyone think of a famous historical person by the first name of Gary?
Well, infamous is more like it. Gary Gilmore, who was the first person executed after the reinstatement of the death penalty. Utah executed him by firing squad
The book Executioner's Song and the movie (with Tommy Lee Jones and Rosanna Arquette) of the same name were from the book by the late Norman Mailer.

How do I change my name legally on first name and second name basis?
Each state has their own laws regarding name change, call your county clerk of court and she can clue you in on the procedure. Here in NY you have to file a petition, and get a judge to sign off on it, or take back your maiden name as part of a divorce proceeding.

What middle name works well with a first name of Grace?
We aren't pregnant just yet, but like a lot of people, it's fun to start thinking ahead to the (hopefully) not too far away future.
We've always loved the name Grace for a girl, but I can't think of any middle names that work well with it. Grace as a middle name always works, but we like it as a first name. Our last name is Lauder (pronounced as in Estee Lauder).

What is the mans first name but his last name is Pot and he is Dutch or English or something?
The man is a very bad man from the past and his last name is Pot. The man is English or Dutch,I'm not sure he could be a different nationality.
What is the mans first name but his last name is Pot and he is Dutch or English or something?
Pol Pot, was the leader of the communist movement known as the "Khmer Rouge" (which roughly means "Red Khmer Tribe", from Rouge, the French for red, and Khmer, the name of a tribe of ancient Cambodia). He was the Prime Minister of Cambodia (officially renamed Democratic Kampuchea under his rule) from 1976 to 1979, having been de facto leader since mid-1975.
Thew only dutch Pot is the kind we smoke :)
Reply:Pol Pot was Cambodian who ruled his country purely by fear. He and his ministers and his military supporters were known as the khmer Rouge and some of his soldiers were very young with power of life and death over anybody.
Pol Pot was responsible for the Killing Fields of Cambodia where his idea of reverting the whole of Cambodia and it's people back to a purely Agrarian Economy proved a complete failure with a massive death toll.
After the Vietnam War the vietnamese army invaded Cambodia to topple Pol Pot from power, he then hid in the jungles where he never forgot his dream of power and returning Cambodia to a purely Agrarian Economy until his death.

Reply:Well like some others on here are saying if you name a boy London he may get teased all his life %26amp; be called "London Bridge". But you know what - London Bridge is a heck of a lot better than many other things that people come up with. I think if a boy were named London he would probably be happy that his name is referenced to a popular nusery rhyme that everyone likes versus something that is negative. I think yes he would probably get teased but everyone does in some way or another %26amp; I don't think this way would be so bad.
I think it is a nice name %26amp; if you like it, use it. If you decide to go with something else you could go with Landon, it is very close to London %26amp; wouldn't have the association with the rhyme, but someone will find a way to make fun of it eventually. Go with whatever you love most.

Reply:When I went to answer this one I looked at the two answers and realized that they said the exact thing I was going to say. I think that indicates that poor boy is going to be the butt of jokes for most of his life. When he slips on the carpet at his wedding they will all say "London Bridge is falling down." Spare him that lifelong grief - get a better first name.

Is it legal to have just the first name and have no last name?
Application errors out, hence wondering if it is legal to have just the first name and have no last name?
Is it legal to have just the first name and have no last name?
Yes. Take Cher and Madonna for example.
Reply:Ordinarily, a judge has legal discretion to grant or deny a name change for frivolous or immoral purposes. That said, the Minnesota Supreme Court allowed a petitioner to change his name to "1069" but ruled that "Ten Sixty-Nine" might be acceptable.
Of course, as a practical matter, I don't know how "1069" or for that matter "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince" can cope with computerized forms.
Reply:A little more detail to what your asking......You have to have a first name AND a last name. How many John's, Leo's, Crystal's, are there in the world...a lot. Thats why First names and Last are needing in common society.
Reply:It is indeed legal, for example, a famous music artist named Prince changed his name (legally) to a symbol.

Reply:I think that Cole would go with Landon nicely but I just can't bring myself to like Cole as a last name. It doesn't sound strong. Emmerich is interesting but I think Landon Emmerich is a mouthful and people would Misspell Emmerich all the time. Kentwood would be a mouthful as well. I really like Landon Quinn actually. It sounds firm and strong. It sounds a tiny bit off with both ending with N but It does sound really nice and that is my favorite out of those. Also What is your middle name? You'd need to make sure that it flowed with the first and last name. Good Luck with your choice make sure it's the one you want and feel comfortable with!

Whats a good first name to go with the middle name Albert?
We're having a boy and are talking about giving him the middle name Albert. Its our way of honoring my husband's grandfather and carrying on his family name so its quite meaningful to us. But, we can't come close to finding a first name we like!

Why does Obama keep calling McCain by his first name?
Is it just me or does anyone else find this disrespectful? What ever your political viewpoint, he is a US Senator. Shouldn't he be referred to as Senator McCain?
Why does Obama keep calling McCain by his first name?
he does it to seem more personable or whatever but ya its strange. ppl torture themselves by running for office it seems. not that that has anything to do with it.
Reply:I agree with Betsy. They're both Senators - they work together. They know one another rather well. They also shook hands after the debate.
Just because they're rivals and have differing views, doesn't mean they can't be friendly with one another.

Is it fair to judge someone by their first name?
Is it fair to judge someone by their first name? Like, if someone's first name is Osama is it fair to assume they're a terrorist?
Is it fair to judge someone by their first name?
Of course it's unfair to judge a person by their first name. To answer the underlying question regarding a certain political candidate, some Americans are total idiots.
Reply:No it isn't fair but you can't help doing it sometimes. If you've known someone horrible in your youth and you meet someone with the same name later on in life, you could be forgiven for assuming they were going to be horrible too, but fortunately that sometimes turns out to be the opposite.
With a name like Osama, it's probably quite a common name where he's from and no, they're probably not all terrorists!
Reply:Only if they chose it themselves, or they're obviously proud of it. You can't blame someone for the name their parents gave them. I knew a woman once whose hippie parents had named her "Helen Mary Rainbow", and that wasn't her fault - but since she went around introducing herself as "Helen Mary Rainbow Smith", and always wrote it out in full instead of calling herself just "Helen Smith", I reckoned she was as dorky as her parents.
Reply:Absolutely not! Never judge someone by their name, appearance, or anything for that matter! My best friend named her son Rueben because she liked that name and saw it in the bible, and someone asked her why she named her son that when hes not even Mexican. That person is a complete idiot. Thats horrible and it's not fair. So please don't do it.
Reply:I don't think so, I mean I know loads of people with the same name and some can be really nasty and some can be nice. It's kind of like saying that all people who have blue eyes are rude. I'm not trying to sound harsh, you understand, right? Stereotyping can stir up a lot of trouble. Good on you for putting the question out there!
Then again, there are a lot of things that go towards a first impression, like appearance and things, but what you need to remember is that most people can't do anything about their names. It's actually quite a meaty question.
Brain is whirring!
Reply:No, it's not fair. But we are human beings and we do it every day. Let me give you an example about how I, being a human , will react to the name Laura or Lori. From child-hood till today, I have always had bad experiences with girls by this name.
They were either crazy, back stabbers or worthless on the job. I don't have any close friends by this name. It's not right...it's just my experience. People often judge because of personal experience!
Reply:How is this even a valid question? No person should be judged by their name unless they chose to change it themselves to represent something.
Reply:NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
Would you wanna be judged by your first name?????
Reply:If someones name is Jeffrey can you assume that they kill and eat people? No, so there you go, the answer is no.
Reply:~~No, it's totally ignorant. The child does not pick his name, his/her parents do.~~
Reply:Well it's not fair, but people do it.
Reply:its not fair
Reply:yes, sometimes you may be right
Reply:I sure hope no one judges me just because I was "gifted" with a dorky name when I was a newborn! That's NOT my fault!
Reply:That would be ridiculous.. after all it's our parents who choose our names, not us...

I met this person two years ago and want to find them again. Where do people look if they're trying to find someone?
How do I find someone with only their first name and suburb?
hmmmmmmmmmmm i think you have two chances..
Buckley and Nunns
but if you advertise in a local paper that is in the suburb that you are looking for this person in. Write a short note in the personal columns and perhaps either they or somebody who knows them might see it and they may contact you.
Reply:If they wanted you to find them they would have given you their number. Sorry bud, the only thing you can do is visit the suburb and ask around, but be careful you might be seen as a stalker
Reply:You can search myspace by zipcode. Of course that'd only work if they have myspace....

I LOVE Allison (with two L's) I think Delilah is a sweet middle name. The main reason I'd go for the two L's is that it won't get misspelled so often and I prefer Alley or Allie as a nn rather than Ali, which has always reminded me of Mohamed Ali.

Another thing you might want to consider is naming her after something or someone that is important to you. If you have a feminine maiden name you could use that. Or after a loved one who may have passed away. While my husband and I were thinking up names, we tried to pick ones that were part of our heritage. French names, Norwegian, German. It's cute and a wonderful thing to tell your children when they're older.
Good luck.

What is a good girls first name to go with the last name Brown?
The middle name is going to be Ann ( family name ). We don't like names that are too far out there or ones that are overused. We also think that that the name should have some beautiful character with that last name of Brown. Thanks for the help.

He was sent for exchange from Ft. Delaware to Aikens Landing, Va 2 Oct 1862. Declared exchanged on 10 Nov 1862.
He is on the list of soldiers surrendered by Gen. Lee at Appomattox.
He was in a regimental hospital on 13 Nov 1861 with a fever. I can read the type of fever but am unfamiliar with it. He returned to duty 14 Nov 1861. On 21 May 1864 he is shown as being at Jackson hospital, Richmond, Va. He was furloughed for 60 days. He was shot in the left shoulder by a mini ball and admitted at Jackson Hospital on 16 May.
There are several other records throughout the war.
I might add that there was also a 4th Georgia Cavalry and another 4th Ga unit.
I am an amateur historian and genealogist. If you are researching an ancestor, try to connect to me as a friend. I'll try to remember who you are and we'll figure oiut how to contact each other. I have access to some Civil War records and can point you toward better records which can be obtained from the government at very minimal costs.
Check my source listing if you are researching an ancestor and need help.
Oops, you want fiction. Well, if you are basing it on Charles Grace, I'll send copies of records.

What is a good first name to go with timothy?
Please first names only to go with timothy as a middle name.As this is my little brothers name and I would like to use it in the future if I have a boy.

Edward Timothy has a good ring to it.
Or
Matthew Timothy
Reply:Francis Timothy !
You want a rare name, but not a weird hippy name - Go for Francis Timothy. For the handsome colonial feel. It reminds me of Francis Greenway, a colonial architect that was posted to Australia for public projects by the British Government back in the day.

Can you call your graduate professors by their first name?
Im in grad school and my peers seem to call our professor by their first names. Now going straight from undergrad to grad, I haven't really been in a professional setting, so I wasn't sure if we were allowed to address our professors by their first name. So is it true?
Can you call your graduate professors by their first name?
That apparently is the culture of your school./
if that is the culture and you feel comfortable with it you can join in./
Reply:i think it really depends on your professor. ask them (in private if you don't feel comfortable doing so in front of others) what they prefer and respect their wishes. i'm in grad school too and most of my professors have just gotten their ph.d's and have said they prefer being called by their first name.
at the same time, it was the same in undergrad for me....it really depends on whose class you're in. i promise, no one will be offended if you ask what they want to be called.

How can I retrieve a user's first name from a Database and dynamically add it to a webpage?
I've created the database and the login form in Dreamweaver; I understand that Session Variables need to be defined and called out, but how do get the application to retrieve not the user's login data but the data stored in first name field of the database and use that as the session variable?
How can I retrieve a user's first name from a Database and dynamically add it to a webpage?
It's not possible to answer this question unless you specify the type of database. Is it MySQL or what?
And what have session variables got to do with it? Are you sure you are talking about a database at all?
..
Sorry, can't help with MS Access. I thought it was only for desktop computers, not servers. I could tell you how to do it in MySQL in a minute!
