Can anyone think of a famous historical person by the first name of Gary?

I don't mean relatively minor current characters, like a few comedicans; I'm talking about a person of signifigance.

Can anyone think of a famous historical person by the first name of Gary?
Well, infamous is more like it. Gary Gilmore, who was the first person executed after the reinstatement of the death penalty. Utah executed him by firing squad

The book Executioner's Song and the movie (with Tommy Lee Jones and Rosanna Arquette) of the same name were from the book by the late Norman Mailer.
Reply:Gary Cooper, Gary Coleman (LOL), Gary Hart, Gary Condit. Nobody very significant.
Reply:Are you saying Gary the Snail is not significant?
Reply:how about,garybaldi
Reply:How about Francis.%26lt; Gary Powers,%26gt; flyer of the U-2 shot down over Russia during the Cold War.
Reply:How about US Rep. Gary L. Ackerman? He is also the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia and Senior Member of the House Financial Services Committee.
Reply:sorry, probably not. Gary isn't really that popular a name, nor was it around the time of founding fathers, fronteirsmen, or any other famous exciting History type people.
