What do you think of the name Lexie as a complete full first name?

Lexie would be on the birth certificate for the first name (for a girl). Honestly what do you think of it? What would you rate the name Lexie on a scale of 1-10?





By the way, I know someone who's name is Katie and it's her full name on her birth certificate so I don't think Lexie is much different than Katie.

No problem. I like the name.
Reply:I'm not crazy about the name in any format- as a NN or as a formal first name, so I'd give it only a 4.


I prefer more formal (or full) names on the birth cert in most cases, since people are only children for a brief portion of their life, and nicknames can be limiting so being Cindy on your birth cert could be limiting if at 40, you are a lawyer and would prefer to be Cynthia.

I know 2 girls named Lexie and it is their full name not a nickname.





MrsC - I also have a nephew named Jake and this is a very common first name in Australia and not just a nickname for Jacob.





I think Lexie is a perfect name. Go for it.
Reply:3 - it's a nickname. Katie is far more commonly used as a name on its own, and also has the more formal version of Kate available as an alternative. What's your daughter going to call herself when she doesn't want to be little-girl-cute? Lex?
Reply:its like naming a kid jake. his whole life people will assume his name is jacob. why not just name them the traditional name? i mean either way you will still call them the nickname right? plus what if your kids becomes a doctor? lexie? i mean come one ;)

Reply:It wouldn't be my choice as a name but in the sense that you mean it is perfectly fine. So many people do that now, because they call there kids what they want them to be called by others. Lexie is fine!
Reply:I agree with boys, boys, boys. Lexie is a great name - I can't see the point of naming a child a name and then calling him/her by the shortened version.
Reply:I think it's cute but I wouldn't use it as a full name.It just sort of seems unfinished to me. I'd use either Alexa/Alexia/Alexis/Alexandra etc.... but it's your choice :)

Lexie as a full name would be 2/10 but Lexie as a nickname (which it is) would be 8/10.
