Trying to do a geneology report and need to find out Grandmothers moms maiden name and her fathers first name
How do you get someones mothers maiden name and their fathers first name?
Obituaries, birth certificates, marriage license applications, death certifucates; in the USA, SSN applications, although they cost $27.
This is a general hint: Even though you go in through YA Canada, YA Australia, YA UK or YA USA, all of the questions go into one big "pot" and get read by everyone in the world who speaks English. Most of the people here are in the UK and USA, but you sometimes get questions and answers from people who worry about kangaroos eating their roses. So - put a nation, or, better yet, if you are asking about a specific individual, a nation and a state / province, in all of your questions. It will help people help you.
Reply:I know what you mean I have been doing the same...have you been on ancestory.co.uk...I have found quite a lot from there...first I would ask your close relatives...what I did to get a break was... I sent off for a marriage certificate. of my mothers.....and you might be able to get a break from there...
Reply:The easiest way is to call the oldest person in the family and ask. You'd be surprised how much your parents' aunts and uncles love telling everything they know.
Otherwise, you'll need to go to the library and pull up her obituary. It should be listed in there. The other option is to call the office of the Clerk of the Court in the county where she died and ask them to look it up for you.
